The Site is maintained by the McGill University Library & Archives, in support of our mission to collect, preserve, and disseminate the publications, scholarly works, and theses of McGill University faculty and students. eScholarships@McGill is a place to share a diverse range of research; the ideas and links stored on this site represent only the author of the content and not McGill University. Use of eScholarship@McGill (the Site and its contents) is subject to the following terms and conditions and all applicable laws. By using the Site or any of its content, you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms of Use and all applicable laws.

Copyright and Use of eScholarship@McGill Content

The Site itself and the content on the Site are protected by copyright laws. Content has been made openly available on eScholarships@McGill with consent of the author and may not be copied beyond the limits set by Canadian Fair Dealing laws unless otherwise stated. It is the responsibility of the user to ensure they do not infringe on Canadian copyright law and author rights. Copyright for all eScholarship content remains with the author, as such eScholarship@McGill staff are not able to undertake copyright investigations on behalf of Site users. 

eScholarship@McGill Access Levels

Where possible, eScholarship@McGill makes its content available to the general public. However, some of the content on this Site has been made available only to McGill Library community users or other user subgroups specified by the depositor. Such content cannot be used, downloaded, or distributed outside the McGill Library community (or subgroup identified) without the specific permission of the depositor.

Use of eScholarship@McGill Site and Content

Unless otherwise specified in the metadata attached to an item, publicly-accessible content may be used for non-commercial, research, educational, or related academic purposes only. Such uses include personal study, distribution to students, research and scholarship (including computational research uses such as data and text-mining, citation-extraction, or cross-referencing). Unless otherwise specified, content may only be shared by linking to the eScholarship repository and no part may be copied without proper attribution to the author; no part may be used for commercial purposes directly or indirectly via a for-profit platform; no adaptation or derivative is permitted without consent from the author.

eScholarship and Privacy

As part of service improvements eScholarship@McGill collects and logs access to the escholarship.mcgill.ca site.

eScholarship@McGill uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service, to help analyze how visitors use Site. Google collects, organizes, and provides visualizations of anonymized data gathered during a user’s browsing session. Data may include navigation patterns (including links clicked and pages visited), region of origin (based on IP), traffic source (ex. referrals), language preference, browser type, and screen size. The tool uses “cookies,” which are text files placed on your computer, to collect standard Internet log information and visitor behaviour information in an anonymous form. The Library uses this information to understand how visitors use the Site and to improve services.
