- In the fundamental understanding of the floatation process, the energies of the various interfaces involved are of prime importance. The work of adhesion equation offers a relationship between these surface energies and floatability. The equation is readily derived and is frequently quoted in relation to floatation (1-5) . However, it has met with little use and even less success (6, 7) which is possibly die to the techniques employed in measuring the essential parameters.
